introduction
Once a wolf has fully mastered their ability by completing stage 3, they gain the ability to combine their magical energies with others who have also mastered their power. The resulting abilities are short-term, proximity based powers, known colloquially as Partner Powers (PP).
There are a wide variety of power combinations to explore. You can view the various options HERE on the partner power spreadsheet. Each power shown on the spreadsheet has its own effects and restrictions, as listed HERE.
rules and restrictions
You can only use powers listed. You cannot invent your own. You can, however, suggest new ones in the [ABILITY HUB TBC].
One character can have several partner powers. However, they can only actively use one partner power at a time.
If a character has multiple abilities, they can only begin to develop partner powers for abilities that they have mastered (completed stage 3).
If a character has multiple abilities which have been mastered, they can develop partner powers with either of their abilities. However, if two characters both have multiple abilities, that pair can only partner up for one combination. For example:
-
Dave has Rot and Shieldwolf. Steve has Wisp Weaver and Obliviate. Between their pairing, Steve and Dave have five different available combinations, but they can only select and train towards one.
While I’m not sure anyone would ever actually want to do this, please be aware that you cannot partner with multiple characters to attain the same partner power with each one (e.g. selected two different partners who both have the same ability, in order to both result in the same PP when combined with your ability). Each PP you acquire should be different.
Partner powers are short term, proximity based powers. The two partners must be within 1 metre of each other in order to activate or use their partner power. They cannot use the power if they are separated or distanced from one another (unless otherwise specified in the PP description).
Usage is limited, and users must wait a full 24 hours between PP usage (unless otherwise specified in the PP description).
Like any other ability, once a PP is learned, it will not be forgotten. If you’d like to erase a PP, for whatever reason, you can purchase a Cleanse from the shop.
If one partner character is killed, or removed for inactivity, that particular partner power is nullified. The remaining partner would need to start again with a new partner if they wished to regain the same combination with a different character.
If a character learns 3 or more PPs, they are at risk of Burnout - spreading their magical energy thin across multiple partners can weaken them, and they are more likely to collapse or pass out when using their ability or their PP.
Like all abilities, partner powers and their usage will be closely monitored for misuse. Svajone reserves the right to remove the privilege of this gameplay system from any individuals who are misusing or deliberately taking advantage of it, where necessary, at any time.
before choosing a partner power
Before you can begin to use partner powers, you must master your ability and officially register your mastery. To do this, please note the group with the following information:
Character Name:
Ability:
Proof of Mastery: Provide either links to your submissions through each stage of the ability, or a link to your personal log of your submissions through the stages.
Officially registered mastery will be logged in the Island Stats. Once you are registered, you are free to begin exploring partner powers with any other registered master!
how to discover & develop a partner power
Similar to abilities, partner powers will develop in tiers. In order to move through the tiers, you must submit canon content which pertains to our discovery, exploration and mastery of your partner power. Submissions can be roleplays or collaborations, and must feature both parties. These abilities are rooted in the joined efforts of two characters, and so the same effort should be made OOC by both parties.
The stages of development are as follows:
Stage 1 - Starting stage
In this stage your two characters begin to feel something of a magnetic pull toward one another. You find that if you try to use your ability in the presence of the other, it does not seem to work correctly or in the way you are used to, almost as though you have returned to the first stage of magic.
Stage 2 - Acquired by completing three pieces of artwork or roleplay that relate directly to your PP
In this stage, your abilities begin to work together, though you have little to no control over the fusion. You find your partner power presents itself in small, uncontrolled bursts, without your influence, and you struggle to contain it.
Stage 3 - Acquired by completing three pieces of artwork or roleplay that relate directly to your PP
With time and practice, your two characters begin to control their combined ability, and can now voluntarily fuse their abilities together in order to employ their partner power at will.
You must complete this process for each individual partner with whom you wish to share a partner power.
