Your wolf has gained the ability to tune into the feelings and emotions of other wolves. This unique ability will affect every wolf differently, drawing on their strength of character and allowing them to read, influence or draw power from emotions.

The stage descriptions which follow are unique to your character, and are known descriptively as the talents of the Learning Empath. This variety of empath is the most skilled at reading the emotions of others, lending them a unique advantage in many situations and giving them the ability to sometimes uncover feelings which others intend to keep hidden.

STAGES

• STAGE 1: Beginning stage

In the first stage, this ability is overwhelming. The emotions and feelings of others flood you almost immediately, forcing those same emotions onto you and causing confusion and distress. Being in large groups is almost entirely impossible, and the only way to lessen the emotions you sense is to put physical distance between yourself and others.

 

• STAGE 2: Intermediate

Acquired by completing three pieces of artwork or roleplay that relate directly to your ability
Your wolf has now learned how to better manage their senses, and while very large groups can still be overwhelming, your wolf can now focus their ability to identify which emotions relate to which individual in particular. At this stage, your senses are not exact, and more subtle fleeting emotions may escape your notice.

 

• STAGE 3: Master

Acquired by completing a further three pieces of artwork or roleplay that relate directly to your ability.

In addition to the above, your character can now focus on one individual in particular, as is able to read their emotions almost in their entirety, including emotions which they may be hiding or suppressing. While your ability does not seem to allow you any influence over emotions, it also does not seem to restrict the type of emotion you can sense or read, making your type of empath comparatively powerful.

 

OVERALL RESTRICTIONS

This ability removes some autonomy from the characters controlled by other players. As such, it is absolutely critical that you obtain permission from others prior to using this ability in interactions with them, and clearly explain the effects of the ability to the parties involved to prevent any confusion.

 

In stage 1, this ability is passive. In stage 2 and 3, the ability can be considered both passive and active - the wolf can always sense emotions (passive) but can also focus their attention to read certain individuals (active).

If you’d like to explore an emotion that is not listed, please ask staff before doing so to confirm if the emotion would be permitted, or suitable for your empath type.

 

In all stages, large groups (groups of 8 or more) are sure to overwhelm any kind of empath. Due to the high concentration of emotions, such a situation may render their ability completely useless, and will very quickly drain their physical strength as they struggle to deal with the large concentration. The larger the group, the greater the empath is likely to be weakened, particularly in the lower stages of their ability. Typically in this situation, an empath would need to withdraw from the area entirely to recover.
